Alexandria's lightened for the whole world, so the world's admitted the effective role, played by Alexandria, through which the world's evolutes and's been gotten progressed to its contemporary civilization.

The artistic heritage of the city remained to refer to its glorious history. Efforts of both authorities and visual artists complied together to set a civil committee named Alex Work-Shop Center (AWSC).

Alex Workshop Center was established in 1999 supported by the governor of Alexandria to help the artists to achieve their noble goals so art can serve the community. This is through:-

*Contribution in assisting and training creative youth artists and that through specialized artistic units equipped with all tools needed and supervision as well .

*offering youth artists convenient studios to execute their artistic works with the least charge.

*Giving the chance to Egyptian and foreign artists to work in studios on their own or participating with others for a specific time no more than one month paying a small amount of money approved by the administration of the center .

*Holding local and international workshops in the different artistic fields (painting, sculpture, graphic, mosaic, stained glass pottery) .

*Training on some crafts like arabesque , molding and casting metal , making forms in different materials ,and that is in specialized units under the supervision of experts .

The center consists of several units :

*Drawing and painting .

*Sculpture .

*Molding and casting metals , bronze , aluminum , iron .

*Graphic &print making unit .

*Pottery & Ceramics.

*Forming metals .

A lot of local and international workshops have been held in the center since its establishing up till now.
